Meet the Board of Directors
President Beth Stenberg
I found Derby City Bop in 1999. I found it again in 2005 and was hooked. That same year I was asked to fill a vacancy when the secretary resigned. I have served as Secretary, Assistant Treasurer, Vice President and President and I am humbled to serve again in 2026. I am a retired CPA, author and nationally known speaker/instructor in the accounting/finance world. My DCB roles have been focused on corporate structures & documentation, IRS compliance and BIB and BCB Chair. Since COVID the DCB normal shifted and the Board has been working hard to create a new normal of inclusiveness among ages, music and dance styles. With the help of all our great members, we will continue the process and watch DCB give the community a place to learn to dance, improve dancing, find new friendships and cherish the friendships already established.
Vice President Ray Frye
Serving this year as our Vice President is Ray Frye. Ray is a Master of Engineering graduate of the University of Louisville J.B. Speed School of Engineering and has more than 40 years’ experience as a licensed professional engineer. He has spent the last 23 years working for the Louisville District. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and will retire from federal service as a senior leader, holding the position of Deputy Chief, Engineering Division.
Ray has a strong interest in dance. He began dancing in 1993, danced on several completive and exhibition dance teams. He left dancing in 1999 to begin a family and returned in 2015. He currently dances team at the Dance Louisville studio and is working to improve his dance competency to expend into new dance styles while improving the existing ones in his repertoire.
Ray has one daughter and is unmarried
Secretary Brenda Meredith
I’m honored to be one of the founding members of Derby City Bop and have had the privilege of serving in many roles over the years, including Vice President, Secretary, Activities Director, and Newsletter Editor. I’ve also contributed to nearly every committee, gaining a broad perspective on the club’s operations and community spirit.
As a Hall of Fame member of the American Bop Association, I’ve had the opportunity to connect with other clubs across the country, learning from their strengths and challenges. These experiences have deepened my appreciation for what makes Derby City Bop special.
I’m excited to continue serving our members and look forward to bringing my experience and passion to support the club’s growth and success.
Treasurer Noel Allen
Hi, my name is Noel Allen. From the time I was a little girl I have loved dancing! I met my husband because of dancing. I am now a part of the most amazing dance club! My career consisted of working in banking and real estate. I loved both. My life has been blessed with the most amazing husband, Murray Allen, and wonderful dance family. We have two puppies, Rosie and Winnie. They bring us so much joy. Thank you all for allowing me to be a part of such a wonderful group of people!
